North Johnston on wrong end of both matchups at South Lenoir

Tuesday didn’t provide the best trip to Lenoir County for North Johnston.
The Panthers lost both the girls (43-36) and boys (49-43) basketball games played in Deep Run. North Johnston falls to 10-3 for the girls and 3-10 on the boys side.
“Their height gave us a lot of trouble,” Panthers girls basketball coach Jay Poole said. “Our margin of error is thin and we have to limit teams to one shot. We can’t give up that many offensive rebounds and we have to be better at the free throw line.”
Both games came down to clutch defensive plays and the Panthers had plenty of chances to capitalize. However, it was the Blue Devils who countered every bucket from the away team in this matchup.

“I’ve got to do a better job of putting us in better situations,” boys head coach Chris Batten said. “We missed too many layups and gave up a lot of second chance points. All we can do is move on and play a good game the next time out.”
North Johnston faces Beddingfield in Eastern Plains 2-A conference action Wednesday.
