Aycock swept by South Central

2 min read

Aycock had South Central sweating, but ultimately, the defending champions found a way.

South Central’s pressure defense in the fourth quarter was the difference in the Golden Falcons 54-42 road loss Friday. Aycock was up 34-25 midway through the third quarter, but was outscored 29-8 the rest of the way.

Trailing 20-8 in the early portion of the second quarter, the Golden Falcons could’ve folded. Instead they answered with a 17-5 run to close the first half tied at 25. In the end, the stellar efforts of Charles Walker II, Alijuan Moore, and Ashton Peronzini weren’t enough.

Aycock falls to 8-9 and 2-5 in conference play with this loss despite Walker’s 16 points. Daylinh Brown had 13 and Travon Ward finished with 12 for South Central.

In the girls game, the Golden Falcons couldn’t recover from South Central’s big first quarter in a 56-17 loss. Aycock falls to 9-8 overall and 2-5 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A play.

Victoria Patnaude led Aycock with six points and they travel to Southern Wayne Tuesday.
