GREENSBORO — Clayton High alumna Kasey Wilkins secured the East All-Stars’ 3-2 win with six saves, including one in the final two minutes of the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game on Tuesday.

Wilkins played all 80 minutes in goal and played just as well as she had all season for the Comets. Wilkins was happy to keep the West All-Stars, who were armed with NCAA Division I forwards, to just two goals.

“Coming in I was really, really nervous because I know the majority of the girls are going division I, division II and I’m only going division III,” Wilkins said. “I think it was pretty even. I’m glad I got to compete with girls at a higher level, challenge myself and make myself better. It was really fun.”

The 5-foot-3 goalie will play college soccer at William Peace University. Wilkins allowed 16 goals in her senior season with 18 shutouts to earn herself All-State honors. With over 3900 minutes played in goal at Clayton in three years, Wilkins allowed 62 goals in her career and had 39 shutouts.
