Greene Central swept at Farmville Central

Despite back-to-back competitive sets to begin the match, Greene Central was unable to get over the hump in a straight sets road loss (25-17, 26-24, 25-8) to rival Farmville Central Monday.
The Rams (1-6, 1-4 ECC 2-A) traded points throughout the opening set with the hosting Jaguars (7-1, 6-0 EPC 2-A) before a late closing run gave the home team a 25-17 win. However, the visitors did make Farmville Central sweat in the second set starting on a 9-3 run. Greene Central led 20-14 and eventually had four set points to even the match.
However, the Jaguars held firm with a 5-0 run to take the second set and that proved costly for the Rams. Farmville Central never looked back after making that comeback to go up 2-0. A 15-5 run to start the third set proved to be another big difference as the Jaguars continue to roll. They’ve won seventh straight matches, six via sweep, after opening the season with a five-set loss to rival Ayden-Grifton.
Meanwhile, the Rams continue to be competitive, but they’ve not been able to get the results with their lone win on the season coming against Kinston. Greene Central takes on South Lenoir Friday while Farmville Central travels to North Johnston.
