WJG SPORTS FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Goldsboro’s Jamin Jacobs
2 min readJamin Jacobs returned from injury in week nine and led Goldsboro to two wins to get into the playoffs.
“He’s a natural leader,” Tim Ray, Goldsboro head coach, said. “The biggest thing he brings is leadership. As a quarterback, he does a lot of things well.”
Jacobs was the starter coming into the season, but a few days before the season opener at New Bern he broke his collarbone. The injury caused him to miss eight games.
“It was really hard because like you wake up hurting and then they told me I couldn’t play,” Jacobs said. “That was the hard part like standing on the sideline, and seeing things you could’ve did or things that could’ve happen. But I couldn’t do anything.”
Jacobs put up almost 700 yards of offense and had five touchdowns in five games. Jacobs is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in Wayne County next season. Jacobs said the injury gave him a new appreciation for the game.
“The injury showed me I can’t take it for granted because ain’t nothing promised,” Jacobs said.
Jamin Jacobs is the WJG Sports Football Player of the week for Week 11.
