WeUp provides affordable basketball camp to local athletes

2 min read

WeUp Athletic Group is putting on a basketball camp for kids who want to better their game, but don’t have a lot of money to spend.

“The Dollar and A Dream” camp will take place at the Old Carver Gym in Mount Olive on August 19 for elementary and middle school players and August 20 for high schoolers. The elementary students will be in camp from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the middle schoolers from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The high schoolers will go from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The new training group founded by Nicholas Oats, a Southern Wayne basketball alumnus and Wayne Country Day head junior varsity basketball coach, will allow players to pay one dollar for the camp. Maurice Jones, Way Day head varsity girls basketball coach and influencer with WeUp, will also be a part of the camp.

“WeUp Athletic Group is about providing a platform and skills consulting services to student athletes throughout the eastern part of North Carolina,” Oats said. “What made me decide to offer this camp was the kids. Understanding every parent couldn’t afford camps and AAU this summer. So I felt I could provide the kids to a memory to share going back to school.”

To register for the camp give Oats a call at 919-980-6036 or call Jones at 919-273-5960.
