Rosewood at Princeton — WJG Sports Game Of The Week

Kai: “Does Princeton blowing out every opponent they’ve faced in the last six weeks mean they’re that good? Does Rosewood coming close to losing to North Duplin last week make them more ready for a game? So many questions, including who to pick? I went with Princeton because they were my pick in the preseason but this game should be THE game of the year in the WJG coverage are.” 48-42 PHS

Laieke: “We’re getting fireworks in this Carolina 1-A conference title game. These hated rivals will go point for point throughout the game, but I think the single wing prevails. The Bulldogs will get enough stops to knock off the Eagles in what should be a great game at Harvey Brooks Field.” 50-41 PHS

Arendell Parrott vs Grace Christian: NCISAA D1 8-man state championship game— Strika’s Game Of The Week

Kai: “Matt Beamancontinues his revenge tour with another state title win.” 50-38 APA

Laieke: “Patriots will he likely without Trey McLawhorn, but they’ve been overcoming injuries all season long and this will be the pay off.” 32-24 APA

North Pitt at Farmville Central

Kai: “North Pitt has shown all year they are on the rise, while Farmville Central has shown they are about to hit rock bottom.” 42-0 NP

Laieke: “Three wins would be a huge improvement for coach Greg Watford and the Panthers.” 27-8 NP

D.H. Conley at South Central: Backyard Brawl

Kai: “Conley’s offense has shown to be very powerful while South Central’s defense has shown to be pourous.” 52-24 DHC

Laieke: “Conley remembers what happened last year when they played South Central. They’re the best team in the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A conference and the Vikings offense should take advantage of a Falcons defense that has given up a lot of points. 48-27 DHC

Southern Wayne at J.H. Rose

Kai: “JH Rose is very good at football, Southern Wayne is very bad at football.” 49-7 JHR

Laieke: “After starting the season 2-5, the Rose Rampants are going to finish with a winning record. They’ll be a tough out in the playoffs.” 57-6 JHR

C.B. Aycock at Eastern Wayne

Kai: “Eastern Wayne will start hot before the superior Falcons take over.” 35-21 CBA

Laieke: “With a win, the Golden Falcons will have swept all the Wayne County teams on their schedule. It’s been a season filled with adversity, but Aycock will get it done.” 37-15 CBA

South Lenoir at North Lenoir: Braggin’ Bowl

Kai: “North Lenoir needs a win to secure their playoff spot and I think they will get it over South Lenoir who has had a tough season.” 33-18 NL

Laieke: “North Lenoir has a chance to tie their school record for wins in a season. It would be fitting if their eighth win came against their biggest rival on senior night.” 29-16 NL

Kinston at Ayden-Grifton

Kai: “Ayden-Grifton in the past few weeks have shown to be the team I thought they were in the preseason. I remember Mike Webb dropping to his knees as the Vikings ended the Chargers season in overtime last year in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-A playoffs. I think on his senior night he will get revenge with three touchdowns for number 3.” 21-7 AG

Laieke: “This game is to determine who gets the number three seed. These games are competitive every year and this year will be no different. I think the Chargers win on the last possession.” 19-15 AG

Greene Central at Washington

Kai: “The Rams need a win if they want a shot at the playoffs. But Washington needs a win to secure a co-conference championship. Pam Pack won by a lot on senior night.” 35-0 W

Laieke: “Regardless of the result, Washington will be the number two seed out of the Eastern Carolina 2-A. They should win this game which means Greene Central will have to hope for a miracle to reach the playoffs. 37-8 W

Northside at Southside: Anchor Bowl

Kai: “Northside is the far superior team.” 42-28 NHS

Laieke: “The Anchor Bowl matchup should be a competitive one. In the end, the Panthers will spoil senior night and with that, they should host a first round playoff game.” 36-32 NHS

North Johnston vs Nash Central

Kai: “This win would be a nice notch on Nash Central’s belt in hunt of a playoff berth. But North Johnston will play hard and make it interesting.” 38-21 NCHS

Laieke: “Nash Central will finish third in the Eastern Plains 2-A conference behind Southwest Edgecombe and Beddingfield.” 39-20 NCHS

West Johnston at Clayton

Kai: “West Johnston will compete hard but the more athletic Clayton should win easily.” 48-12 C

Laieke: “Clayton should take care of business in this game.” 49-6 C

Corinth Holders at Rolesville

Kai: “Corinth Holders’ season is over but a win tonight could be good momentum heading into next season, but  Rolesville is one of the best teams in the state coming off two straight loses and will be looking to take their anger out on someone.” 59-14 R

Laieke: “Corinth Holders losing to Knightdale killed their already slim playoff chances.” 56-8 R

Smithfield-Selma vs East Wake

Kai: “Smithfield-Selma is riddled with injuries and East Wake has proven to be a team that can matchup with them.” 35-20 EW

Laieke: “Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the season we expected for SSS.” 37-21 EW

Goldsboro at East Duplin

Kai: “Goldsboro has proven me wrong so many times that I’m not betting against them this time.” 21-16 GHS

Laieke: “Goldsboro has found a way into the playoff field and they’ll solidify that against a good East Duplin team.” 23-17 GHS

South Johnston at Cleveland

Kai: “South Johnston must win to secure a playoff spot — but Cleveland is not the team to help anyone out.” 56-14 C

Laieke: “Cleveland should cruise to the conference title in style.” 62-7 C
