Clayton 26, South Johnston 14
FOUR OAKS — Jalen Chadwick has 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead Clayton to a 26-14 road win over South Johnston.
The Comets defense held the Trojans to two yards rushing in the 3-A Greater Neuse Rivers Conference opener.
Clayton (3-4) will travel to East Wake next week while South Johnston will host West Johnston.
Greene Central 59, South Lenoir 26
SNOW HILL — Jaden Tyson had 14 carries for 154 yards and four touchdowns to lead Greene Central to its first 2-A Eastern Carolina Conference win of the season on homecoming against South Lenoir.
Junior signal caller Cole Dawson also had 199 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Rams (4-3) will head to Kinston next week for a big rivalry game.
Eastern Wayne 50, Southern Wayne 20
DUDLEY — Eastern Wayne quarterback Desmond Vaughn’s return was fruitful as he lead the team to a 50-20 win over Southern Wayne.
It was the first win of the Warriors’ season. It was the Saints’ sixth straight loss and ninth straight loss to Eastern Wayne.
The Warriors are now 1-6 and 1-1 in the 3-A/4-A conference and will welcome in New Bern next week. Southern Wayne is now 1-7, 0-3 in the conference and will welcome in South Central.
Wallace Rose Hill 36, Goldsboro 14
GOLDSBORO — Goldsboro dropped its conference opener to Wallace Rose Hill, 36-14. The Cougars (3-4) will travel to Clinton next week.
Rosewood 55, Hobbton 7
ROSEWOOD — Davien Thompson had four touchdowns in Rosewood’s conference opening win over Hobbton, 55-7 on homecoming. The Eagles are 6-1 and will travel to Lakewood next week.
