SNOW HILL — Greene Central struggled to stay on pace with South Lenoir in a straight sets loss on Thursday.
The Rams (4-5, 0-2 Eastern Carolina 2-A) stayed close in each set before the Blue Devils eventually pulled away. Greene Central trailed 23-19 in the final set despite trailing by as many as 10 in that frame.
However, the Blue Devils (8-1, 3-0) scored the final two points to secure the victory. They controlled the pace of the game and the Rams were unable to put any pressure on the waves of South Lenoir offense.
Rams head coach Emily Nelson still feels that her team is going to win a lot of games in conference play. She felt that her team needed this game to refocus and make adjustments to how they’ve been playing.
“The competition is only going to get better,” she said. “It’s still early in the season, but playing in this conference is going to help our team grow. If we want to win games, we just have to relax and play Rams volleyball.”Greene Central travels to face Kinston next Tuesday.
