Clayton’s Andino plays entire East-West All-Star Game
1 min readGREENSBORO — Clayton High alumnus Dennis Andino played his final high school game in the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Andino, the 2018 3-A Greater Neuse River Conference Player of the Year, anchored the defense of the East All-Stars for the entire 80 minutes. The East did lose 1-0, but Andino was glad to have the experience before heading to play at Elmira College.
“It was awesome,” Andino said. “It was a lot of fun, just being able to play the game I love since I was a little kid. Since I’m going to be playing at the next level next year, it’s good to get a good game in before I head off to college.”
It was the first time Clayton had a boys soccer player in the East-West game since Jeff Shapiro in 2007. Andino made the NCSCA 3-A All-State team this season.
